Corry Area

School District

Welcome to Title I

Welcome to Title I

Title I is a federally funded supplemental education program that provides financial assistance to local educational agencies to improve educational opportunities for educationally deprived children.  Title I programs are designed to help children meet the state content and performance standards in reading, language arts, and mathematics.

Corry Area School District currently operates a school-wide program at both Corry Area Primary School and Corry Area Intermediate School.  This type of programming affords all children the opportunity to receive supplemental support by highly qualified teachers and paraprofessionals.

In school-wide programming, a comprehensive plan provides a blueprint for all core operations within the building.  This plan brings focus and coherence to activities and helps to ensure unity of purpose, alignment, and clear accountability.

Our school level plans include the following components:
1. A comprehensive needs assessment that identifies the school’s strengths and challenges in key areas that affect student achievement;
2. Reform strategies designed to improve teaching and learning throughout the school;
3. Instruction by highly qualified teachers so that all students have the opportunity to be taught by teachers who know their subject matter and are skilled in teaching it;
4. Ongoing professional development for principals, teachers, paraprofessionals, and others to sustain the challenge of increasing student achievement;
5. Strategies to attract high-quality personnel to our district;
6. Strategies to increase parental involvement, especially in helping their children do well in school;
7. Plans for assisting preschool students in the successful transition from early childhood programs to our primary school in the district;
8. Measures to include teachers in decisions regarding the use of academic assessments in order to improve student performance;
9. Timely, effective assistance and interventions for all students having difficulty meeting the proficient and advanced levels of academic performance; and
10. Coordination and integration of federal, state and local services to help all children excel!
