Frankie Takes on a "Secret Mission" for Local Author

One of our own students, Frankie Goodwill, had the unique opportunity to help Erie author David Gorman with a very special project. Gorman, best known for his popular Waldameer Mystery Files series, is currently working on his next book, set to be released in 2026.

To bring an extra bit of local flavor to his upcoming story, Gorman asked Frankie to complete what he called a “secret mission”: to take photos of a mysterious, unmarked crypt in the Erie Cemetery. Sometimes referred to in local lore as the "vampire crypt," this eerie site has sparked curiosity and storytelling for generations.

While the name might sound spooky, the goal was all about capturing the atmosphere of one of Erie’s most talked-about historical spots. Gorman hopes to include one or two of Frankie’s photos in his book when it's published.

We’re proud to see our students getting involved in real-world projects — especially when they’re as exciting (and mysterious) as this one!

Exciting Treasure Hunt Leads to Signed Copies of David Gorman’s The Hidden Heirloom

In celebration of the release of The Hidden Heirloom, the latest addition to the Waldameer Mystery Files, CAIS hosted an exciting treasure hunt. Last year, author David Gorman, visited CAIS.  To honor his new book, five signed copies were given away to lucky students.

To make the event even more exciting,  five pieces of gold were hidden throughout the school. The lucky students who found the hidden treasures were rewarded with a signed copy of Gorman’s latest mystery novel. It was a fun and engaging way to celebrate literature and the spirit of adventure that Gorman’s books inspire!

Read Across Corry at CAIS

CAIS recently celebrated Read Across Corry with an afternoon full of reading and Dr. Seuss activities. Students engaged in dramatic read-alouds, book-themed games, and art projects inspired by their favorite stories.  Parents joined in, creating a shared experience that highlighted the joy of reading. Through these fun and interactive activities, CAIS encouraged students to develop a lifelong love of books and learning.

Aladdin Performance Wows the Audience

CAIS students delivered a fantastic performance of Aladdin last Saturday afternoon, showcasing their talent, creativity, and hard work. The lively cast, vibrant costumes, and impressive set design brought the beloved story to life. Thanks to the dedication of the director, cast, and crew, the performance was a true success and a testament to our students' abilities. We’re incredibly proud of their effort and thank them for making our school shine!

CAIS Celebrates the 100th Day of School

The 100th day of school at the intermediate level is a day to celebrate hard work, growth, and progress in a more meaningful way. With engaging activities, opportunities for reflection, and chances to build community, the 100th day provides a rich learning experience for students. It reminds them that every day counts, and every milestone, big or small, is worth celebrating. As students approach the next part of the year, the 100th day helps them recognize their potential and motivates them to continue striving for success.

Thank You Mr. Johnston for an Outstanding CAIS Winter Concert!

A big thank you to Mr. Johnston for an outstanding CAIS Winter Concert! Parents were full of praise, and many expressed how much they enjoyed the performance. The "Grandma's Chicken Soup" theme was both funny and creative, with students fully embracing their roles. Special thanks to our staff who stayed late to help, and to Mr. Lander for playing the piano. The soloists and narrators did a wonderful job, and Mrs. Nuhfer had a blast playing the role of Grandma!  It was a truly memorable evening!
